Cristiane Barreto’s professional story did not begin in consulting. It began inside a business.

Long before advising executives, developing leaders, or studying organizational behavior, she experienced management from within — making decisions, working with people, responding to customers, navigating challenges, and understanding firsthand what it means to carry responsibility for a business.

That experience became the first layer of a career that would later bring together management, Social Psychology, organizational development, strategy, leadership, behavioral science, and human development.

Today, Cristiane is based in the Orlando, Florida area, working with organizations, executives, leaders, and professionals across the United States, Brazil, and internationally. Her work has been built gradually through practical management, academic study, teaching, consulting, research, international experiences, and continuous learning.

1997–2006 | Management & Entrepreneurship

The First Chapter: Learning Business from the Inside

From 1997 to 2006, Cristiane worked in management within her family-owned retail business in Brazil.

Those years gave her something that would later become fundamental to her consulting practice: the experience of seeing an organization from the inside. She experienced the everyday realities behind business decisions, operations, people management, customer relationships, competing priorities, market pressures, problem-solving, and the responsibility that comes with keeping a business moving forward.

It was an education that did not happen only in a classroom. Years later, when sitting across from business owners, executives, and managers as a consultant, this experience would remain relevant. She understood that organizations are not managed only through models, frameworks, and plans. They are managed by people making decisions within complex realities.

2004: The Beginning of a Transition

Around 2004, while still connected to the family business, Cristiane began a gradual career transition. Her interests were increasingly moving toward questions that went beyond business operations: Why do some leaders mobilize people while others struggle? Why do technically strong organizations sometimes fail because of human dynamics? Why do people resist change? How does culture influence performance? What happens inside groups when pressure, power, expectations, and relationships interact?

Management had taught her how organizations operate. Her next professional chapter would be dedicated to understanding more deeply why people and organizations behave as they do, and how they can evolve.

Consulting gradually became part of that transition. What began as a new professional direction would eventually become the work to which she would dedicate the following two decades.

2007–Present | Postgraduate Education

When Practice Met Academia

In 2007, Cristiane began teaching postgraduate and MBA programs as a guest lecturer, an activity she continues by invitation today. Teaching required a different relationship with knowledge: experience had to be examined, concepts questioned, research translated into practice, and complex ideas made useful to professionals facing real organizational challenges.

From 2008 to 2010, she also served as an undergraduate university professor in Business Administration and related disciplines. From that point forward, consulting and education developed alongside one another. Organizations became places of practice and observation; academia became a place for research, questioning, and intellectual development; and each began to inform the other.

Understanding Organizations Through Multiple Lenses

Cristiane’s academic journey progressively expanded beyond traditional management. She holds a PhD and completed postdoctoral studies in Social Psychology, alongside her academic background in Business Administration. Her studies also include Strategic People Management, Jungian Psychology of Organizations, and Jungian Analytical Psychology.

Over the years, she has completed more than 20 professional certifications and qualifications, including international credentials in areas related to organizational culture, executive coaching, neuroscience, leadership, behavioral assessment, group dynamics, strategic management, and governance.

Her professional development has included methodologies and fields such as Culture Assessment, LEGO® Serious Play®, MBTI® and MBTI® Step II, DISC, executive coaching, team coaching, neurocoaching, applied neuroscience for leadership, group dynamics, digital transformation, and board governance.

This multidisciplinary path was intentional. Management can explain structures, processes, and strategy. Social Psychology helps explain influence, groups, relationships, identity, power, and behavior within social systems. Behavioral science contributes to understanding decisions and patterns of action. Neuroscience adds another perspective on learning, adaptation, and change. Group dynamics reveals what happens when individuals become a collective. Strategy gives direction. Culture influences what actually happens when nobody is reading the strategic plan.

More Than 200 Organizations: The Field as a Laboratory

Over more than two decades, Cristiane’s consulting work expanded across organizations of different sizes, sectors, and stages of development. Her experience includes private companies, public organizations, and nonprofits across industries such as services, retail, healthcare, education, technology, finance, agribusiness, government, energy, and construction.

The projects were different, but certain patterns repeatedly emerged. A problem presented as a leadership issue could actually originate in structure. A culture problem could be reinforced by processes. A team considered “unmotivated” could be responding to unclear expectations or inconsistent leadership. A strategy could be technically excellent and still fail because the organization was not prepared to execute it.

These experiences progressively shaped Cristiane’s systemic view of organizations. Her consulting practice expanded to include strategic planning and execution, organizational development, organizational culture, leadership development, executive advisory, governance, organizational diagnostics, behavioral assessment, change management, executive education, team development, mentoring, and facilitation.

Taking the Work Beyond Brazil

In 2012, Cristiane was among the speakers participating in an event held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York. In 2015, she returned to the United Nations Headquarters as a speaker in another international event.

Her participation in the Brazilian Congress of Creativity and People Management also included speaking engagements in 2011 and 2019, in addition to 2017, adding recurring milestones to her work connecting human development, behavior, creativity, people management, and professional transformation.

She was also a speaker at ESARH — the South American Human Resources Meeting — in 2014 and 2016, further expanding her participation in major professional forums focused on people management and organizational development.

In 2018, she participated as a speaker in an event held at One World Trade Center in New York. These experiences reflected the gradual internationalization of a professional trajectory that had been built primarily through years of work in Brazil.

2020–2021

The Pandemic Changed the Geography of the Work

The pandemic transformed the way organizations worked, and also changed the geography of Cristiane’s practice. She intensified online consulting, mentoring, leadership development, meetings, and organizational advisory work.

What had previously depended significantly on physical presence could now cross cities, states, and countries. The experience demonstrated that proximity was not necessarily geographic. Deep conversations, strategic decisions, leadership development, and long-term consulting relationships could also happen across screens when methodology, trust, and consistency were present.

2022 | Exploring the United States

Curiosity Before Immigration

In 2022, Cristiane began spending more time in the United States initially driven by intellectual curiosity and independent research. Immigration was not the starting point. Curiosity was.

She wanted to observe another business environment, understand organizational and cultural differences, build professional relationships, and explore how knowledge and experience developed over decades in Brazil might translate into a different context.

The United States became another environment for observation and learning. Gradually, exploration became possibility, and possibility eventually became a decision.

EB-2 National Interest Waiver

Recognition and a New Professional Chapter

Cristiane received approval for U.S. permanent residency under the EB-2 National Interest Waiver (NIW) — Exceptional Ability category, based on the professional qualifications, expertise, and body of work demonstrated throughout her career.

For Cristiane, it represented an important milestone in a professional history built over decades through management, consulting, academic development, teaching, organizational projects, leadership development, and international activities.

Following the approval, she decided to establish a new stage of her life and professional practice in the United States. Immigration did not mean beginning again, nor did it mean leaving behind the professional history built in Brazil. It meant expanding it.

Brazil remained an important part of her professional life, with consulting relationships and projects continuing across borders, while the Orlando, Florida area became the base from which she could build new relationships and expand her work in the United States and internationally.

Three Appearances in Buenos Aires

In 2022, 2024, and 2026, Cristiane was a speaker at the International Congress of Social Psychology hosted by Universidad Argentina John F. Kennedy in Buenos Aires, Argentina.

These appearances represent the continuity of an academic relationship with the field that has deeply influenced the way she understands organizations, leadership, groups, and human behavior.

Building in the United States

From her base in the Orlando, Florida area, Cristiane has continued expanding her professional presence through consulting, executive education, speaking engagements, business networks, governance, and community leadership.

In 2025, she participated in a speaking engagement at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), through Life at Campus. In 2026, she also spoke at the University of Central Florida (UCF) during an event promoted by High Level Experience USA.

In 2026, she became Director of Strategic Planning of the Central Florida Brazilian American Chamber of Commerce (CFBACC), leading the Chamber’s first comprehensive strategic planning process. Cristiane also serves as an Advisory Director at Without Borders Integrated Solutions and is an active member of BNI — Business Network International. In 2026, she also became a leader of the Collegiate Leadership of Grupo Mulheres do Brasil — Central Florida Chapter, strengthening her involvement in community leadership and initiatives supporting the Brazilian community in Central Florida.

When Experience Becomes Method

After decades of managing, studying, teaching, consulting, observing, and working with organizations, Cristiane’s practice evolved into a structured methodology.

Her proprietary Five Axes Framework reflects a principle developed through years of organizational experience: complex organizational problems rarely belong to only one area.

Leadership cannot be completely separated from culture. Culture cannot be separated from strategy. Strategy cannot be separated from execution. And none of them can be fully understood without considering people and human behavior.

For this reason, Cristiane’s methodology begins with understanding before intervention: diagnosis before prescription, context before tools. The Five Axes Framework integrates different dimensions of organizational analysis to understand what is actually happening, distinguish symptoms from underlying causes, establish priorities, and design interventions aligned with the organization’s identity and reality.

Leadership Is About Impact

Cristiane’s work with leadership is based on a broader understanding of what it means to lead. Leadership is not limited to a title.

Leaders influence how people understand priorities, respond to pressure, experience culture, handle conflict, make decisions, and translate organizational intentions into everyday behavior.

For this reason, her work ranges from CEOs and executive teams to middle managers, emerging leaders, professionals, and teams. The objective is not to create a standardized model of leadership, but to develop greater awareness of impact, stronger decision-making, better understanding of human behavior, and greater alignment between what organizations say they value and what their leaders actually practice.

Education Has Always Been Part of the Work

Alongside consulting, Cristiane has worked as a university professor, postgraduate guest lecturer, executive educator, facilitator, and speaker. She has also contributed to discussions about management, leadership, careers, organizational culture, human behavior, and business through television, radio, print, and digital media in Brazil and the United States.

For Cristiane, knowledge should not simply provide answers. It should improve the quality of the questions people are capable of asking. This principle also guides her approach to communication, education, mentoring, and consulting.

Author

Cristiane is the author of Fraternal Leadership in the Era of the Meta-Awareness Age, developed from her doctoral research and published in Portuguese, English, and Spanish.

The work explores themes that have accompanied her academic and professional trajectory, including leadership, consciousness, human development, relationships, responsibility, and the influence individuals exercise within the systems of which they are part.

Today

Today, Cristiane Barreto is based in the Orlando, Florida area and works with organizations, executives, leaders, and professionals across the United States, Brazil, and internationally.

Her work encompasses organizational consulting, strategic advisory, organizational culture, leadership development, governance, executive education, mentoring, behavioral assessment, facilitation, and speaking engagements.

Nearly three decades after her first experience in business management, she continues to study organizations with the same curiosity that shaped her career transition years ago.

Markets change. Technology changes. Generations change. Organizations change. And Cristiane’s work continues to evolve with them.

One conviction, however, has remained consistent: Organizations become stronger when strategy, culture, leadership, and people are understood as parts of the same system.

Her role is to help leaders and organizations see that system more clearly, make better decisions, develop their people, and build the conditions necessary for results that can be sustained.
